About
Welcome to El Aguila, an authentic slice of Mexico nestled in the heart of New York City at 1634 Lexington Ave. This vibrant eatery captures the essence of traditional Mexican cuisine, and patrons continually rave about their experience here. With a warm and inviting atmosphere, paired with exceptional customer service, El Aguila has solidified itself as a go-to destination for lovers of tacos, burritos, and tortas.
As many loyal customers highlight, the food at El Aguila is simply unparalleled. Veronica Hazel offers glowing praise, noting that every taco and burrito she has tried pales in comparison to what El Aguila has to offer. The secret? A commitment to quality ingredients and vibrant flavors. The meat is flavorful, and the sauces provide just the right kick, while the fresh produce—flawlessly rendered in every bite of onion, tomato, cilantro, and guacamole—makes a major impact. The generous portions are an added bonus, and if you find yourself ordering in person, you'll appreciate the meticulous attention and thoughtful service that staff members provide.
Peter Joe, another satisfied customer, draws a fascinating parallel between El Aguila and popular establishments like Los Tacos. What sets El Aguila apart, he insists, is its authenticity and a wider selection of meat options that heighten the dining experience. Whether you opt for the pollo, asada, or al pastor tacos, each bite is a celebration of true Mexican flavors. Don’t forget to indulge in their horchata—a sweet, cinnamon-laced drink that perfectly complements any meal.
The community of El Aguila patrons is passionate, as noted by Ava, who describes the restaurant as a sanctuary for those seeking excellent food without the hefty price tag. The ambiance is family-friendly and perfect for casual gatherings or quick stops. Kiara Alfonseca shares a moment that speaks volumes, describing how she transformed her tiring day with a delightful chicken quesadilla, proof that El Aguila has the ability to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary culinary experiences.
Finally, the longevity of El Aguila’s charm is captured in Li’s sentiment. After a dozen years of dedicated visits, she reminisced about the good old days and hopes for a revival of their former location. The bonds formed through the warmth of the cashiers, who greet you like family, make each visit memorable.
In summary, El Aguila encapsulates the spirit of authentic Mexican dining, blending tradition with a personal touch. From the high-quality ingredients to the rich flavors and outstanding service, it seamlessly becomes not just a restaurant, but a cherished part of the community. Stop by El Aguila to experience this culinary haven for yourself—you won't regret it!
“ Over the years I’ve compared any taco, burrito, or torta I ate against this place and still have not found an equal. Even on an off day or during a rush, the food is well-prepared (meat is flavorful, sauces are vibrant & spicy) and fresh (including the produce, you can taste it in the onion, tomato, cilantro, guac etc) and portions are solid. I’ve also only experienced great service. Recently I called to ask for sauces in a delivery order I’d placed online and the lady was more than friendly and accommodating about it. Ordering in person is also smooth. Never feel rushed to choose anything and they always double-check if it’s con todo or if something is sold out. Cashiers are remarkably warm to the point that I recognize them quickly by their smiles! It’s a fairly busy restaurant so I don’t take it to heart if the cashier is short with niceties or is rushing. ”
“ Excellent! I'm a big fan of Los Tacos in the city, and this place is on par! Less commercialized, VERY authentic flavor, and more meat options. I recommend you get the tacos with pollo, asada, or al pastor. They're all good. Spend a few extra bucks and get the horchata drink too- well worth it! ”
“ This beautifully authentic Mexican food restaurant is so good ! The food is always slamin' and the service is top tier!!! They don't have through the roof prices. I RECCOMEND this place to anyone looking for a Mexican restaurant for the family or to rely on when a craving takes over . ”
“ I've had a very tiring morning and ate no breakfast so I stopped here randomly and I could've cried tears of joy eating my chicken quesadilla. Like, it was so delicious and now I wish i lived in the area! Great establishment. ”
“ I’ve been coming here for 12 years back when they had their location on 116th street and Lexington. I wish they would open another location there again (it use to be 24 hours). They have the best food. The cashier was super nice and sweet to me. ”
“ Portions were huge! We ordered Al Pastor burritos and tacos. The marinated pork is delicios. Location is just across a subway station. ”
“ Small but cozy lil spot right by the 103rd St 6 train station. Portion sizes were huge (they really fill you up on the rice & beans) and everything is pretty tasty. Very affordable prices too! ”
“ Stumbled on this restaurant on my way to the Museum of the City of New York. Forgot the name of the dish but it was with roasted pork and it was delicious. The serving was generous considering the price was around 10 only. Didn't end up going to the museum but walked away from the Upper East Side happy. ”
